On June 2, the world lost a beloved figure who had fought valiantly against an unforgiving disease, leaving behind an enduring legacy. At just 41 years old, this extraordinary individual passed away after a courageous battle with motor neurone disease (MND), inspiring countless people throughout his journey.
A large crowd gathered at Leeds Civic Hall to honor his life and remarkable achievements. The funeral reception was attended by around 180 people, including close family members, former teammates, and distinguished guests such as the CEO of the MND Association and the leader of Leeds City Council. The event was organized by Abigail Marshall Katung, the Lord Mayor of Leeds.
On July 7, as the cortege made its way to a private service, the streets of Leeds were lined with supporters, many wearing Leeds Rhinos shirts in tribute. His wife, children, and family followed him in the procession, which made a poignant stop at Featherstone Lions’ ground, where his rugby journey had begun.
In an emotional tribute, his wife, Lindsey, described her late husband as someone who “made the world a better place.” His final message was one of profound wisdom: urging others to “not waste a moment” and to always “dare to dream” in the face of life’s challenges. His legacy of courage, love, and inspiration will continue to resonate with all who knew him.
